Incident Under Investigation
The Alberta RCMP is investigating an incident in which an officer fired their weapon during an interaction with an individual in Egremont on Wednesday, September 28, 2023.
Details of the Incident
At approximately 1:00 PM, RCMP officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the area of 1st Street and 2nd Avenue in Egremont.
Upon arrival, officers encountered an individual who allegedly brandished a weapon. An RCMP officer discharged their service weapon, striking the individual.
Medical Assistance and Investigation
The individual was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has been notified and will be conducting an independent investigation into the incident.
