Ulster Has Released Nine Players
Ulster has displayed the door to nine players, including John Cooney, Marty Moore, and Stuart McCloskey. Ireland scrum-half Cooney and prop Moore are the most high-profile departures from Kingspan Stadium, with both men having been key members of Ulster’s squad in recent seasons.
Cooney Moves to Japan
Cooney, who has won 12 caps for Ireland, will join Japanese side NTT Docomo Red Hurricanes next season. The 32-year-old has been with Ulster since 2014 and has made over 200 appearances for the province.
Moore Joins Wasps
Moore, who has 53 caps for Ireland, will join English Premiership side Wasps next season. The 33-year-old has been with Ulster since 2016 and has made over 100 appearances for the province.
McCloskey Moves to Connacht
McCloskey, who has won 14 caps for Ireland, will join Irish province Connacht next season. The 30-year-old has been with Ulster since 2014 and has made over 150 appearances for the province.
Other Departures
The other six players who have been released by Ulster are:

- Angus Curtis (released)
- Will Addison (released)
- Sam Carter (released)
- Iain Henderson (not offered a new contract)
- Callum Reid (released)
Best Retires
Rory Best, who has won 124 caps for Ireland, has retired from professional rugby. The 39-year-old has been with Ulster since 2004 and has made over 250 appearances for the province.
Curtis and Carter Released
Angus Curtis and Sam Carter have both been released by Ulster. Curtis, a prop, has made over 100 appearances for the province, while Carter, a lock, has made over 50 appearances.
Addison and Reid Released
Will Addison and Callum Reid have both been released by Ulster. Addison, a full-back, has made over 50 appearances for the province, while Reid, a scrum-half, has made over 20 appearances.
Henderson Not Offered New Contract
Iain Henderson has not been offered a new contract by Ulster. The 30-year-old lock has been with the province since 2012 and has made over 150 appearances.
Ulster has not yet announced any new signings for next season.
