Donald Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, continued his testimony in the hush money trial on Tuesday, delivering another bombshell-filled day of evidence against his former boss.
1. Trump Directed Cohen to Pay Off Daniels
Cohen testified that Trump personally directed him to pay $130,000 to adult film star Stormy Daniels to silence her allegations of an affair with Trump. Cohen said he made the payment at Trump’s request and that Trump later reimbursed him.
2. Trump Knew About the Payment
Cohen also testified that Trump was aware of the payment throughout the process and even signed a check to reimburse Cohen. This contradicts Trump’s previous claims that he had no knowledge of the payment.
3. Cohen Arranged Another Hush Money Payment
In addition to the Daniels payment, Cohen admitted to arranging another hush money payment to a different woman who alleged an affair with Trump. Cohen said he did so at Trump’s request and that the payment was made with Trump Organization funds.
4. Trump Organization Involved
Cohen’s testimony implicated the Trump Organization in the hush money payments. He said that the payments were recorded as legal fees in the company’s financial records and that Trump signed off on the expenses.
5. Trump Was Concerned About the Election
Cohen testified that Trump was motivated to make the hush money payments because he was concerned about the impact of the allegations on his 2016 presidential campaign.
